Rome Day 1

We woke up at about 6:15 this morning to be ready for our driver. He showed up 20 mins early so we went down and he drove us to the airport. We flew to Rome which was just under 2 hours. We all slept on the plane.

The train ride from the airport to the hotel was good. Buying tickets was a bit of a nightmare since I swear everyone becomes brain dead around here when they encounter a ticket kiosk. We counted and one small group took 8 minutes *buying each ticket one by one while everyone waited.

The hotel is neat, overall nice. Again, not what we're used to as far as some amenities, but overall good. There's a bidet so that was an "interesting cultural experience".

We didn't do much other than hang around and have supper etc. There's a big Basilica across the street that we haven't went inside yet.

The protocol to get into the room is stupid - there's an outside door to get into the building, then a giant inner door that uses a crazy contraption and the key above that you have to mess with to open as there are 4 dead bolts within it. Finally, a regular room key opens the room door. Also for some reason the hotel staff wants us to leave the keys with them whenever we leave, which is already starting to get annoying as we have to go to the desk to pick them up and drop them off every time we step out.
