Pisa morning and Paris Day 1

We had the hotel reserve a taxi to get to the train station. Traffic was really bad and at one point a bus and a garbage truck had to get traffic to back up and move around so that they could drive on the cliff side road and not pass eachother. I don't know why they didn't just make the road like 2 feet wider and there wouldn't be any problems. We barely made it in time but were able to board our short train to Pisa. Traveling by train is the way to go, we paid an extra 9 euro for first class. They gave us water in juice boxes for some reason, cookies, and Tina got an espresso. The train went almost 200 km/hr and we were in Pisa in no time.

We got a cab from the station to the tower / "field of miracles". The tower was neat to see and "check off the list" but definitely not worth taking any trouble to see. We only went because our flight to Paris left from the airport in Pisa so it made sense to see it. As usual the temperature was boiling hot.  We stopped in a little cafe and had lunch before catching another taxi to the airport. I got wise to paying a stupid amount for drinks and just brought my own coke.

Everyone was trying to take stupid pictures holding up the tower etc.

The airport was a nightmare. There were people everywhere and the airport was way too small. Luckily we were able to make use of our card's lounge access to get away from all the crowds. I don't know if I'll be able to travel without these lounges.

Complimentary food and drinks and nice digs. It's the only way to travel.

Eventually we had to return to the terminal where people were literally sitting everywhere and the temperature was gross. As usual the Italians have no idea how to make a line and the plane was late. Eventually we boarded and took the short flight to Paris.

Once in Paris we met our taxi driver Tina booked the night before and he took us to our hotel. We had a nice conversation with him - he is originally from Lebanon and was a very nice man.

Our hotel is in a nice location and for a change we got two rooms as it worked out. The rooms are nice, if small, but ours smells really bad. Opening the window helps but not completely. They might be able to move us to a different room once we showed them the problem, but not tonight.

Our first meal in Paris was actually sushi which was really good. We were all hungry for it and a good Japanese restaurant was just down the street.

After support we walked over to the Luxembourg Gardens and then took the bus to the Eiffel tower and arrived in time for them to turn the lights on and start a little sparkling light show. Afterwards Scarlett bought a hat and we figured out how to catch the metro back to our hotel.

On the way back we had some trouble finding where we could buy subway tickets and a nice young lady actually walked us down the street and showed us. That was really nice of her. So far what we've seen it seems like there are a lot of misconceptions about Paris. It's been very clean, the people so far have been friendly, and we don't smell urine or poop at all.
